Queensland Clinics: What you can do next

In this industry, we’re no strangers to change - particularly when it comes to regulations. At Fresh, we’re working hard behind the scenes on a new operating model for our Queensland clinics, and we want to make sure we get it right. We know you're looking to us to help you navigate these changes, and we are working with our legal team and Queensland Health to ensure you can operate safely and legally, while also delivering the best possible results for your patients.

Here’s a few simple steps you can take right now while we continue to finalise our model:

Before we start: You should always speak with your own trusted accountant and/or lawyer to make sure you're getting the right advice for your personal situation.

✅ Get your information from credible sources

We will always do our very best to keep you up to date with the correct information, based on advice from our legal team and our collaboration with Queensland Health. It can be difficult to separate fact from fiction on social media, our team are always here to help you. Reach out to your account manager or connect with us on WhatsApp for support.

Set up your business structure as a Pty Ltd

You will be required to operate as a Pty Ltd under the new model with QLD Health. Setting up a company structure also gives you stronger legal protection and provides you with greater flexibility with evolving regulations.

  • Talk to your accountant (or use an online service) to register a Pty Ltd company with ASIC.
  • This will cost around $1500, depending on your provider, and you should be able to claim this on tax (but make sure to speak to your accountant!)
  • You can find out more about the benefits of operating as a Pty Ltd here.

Open a new business bank account in your Pty Ltd’s name

When you set yourself up as a Pty Ltd, your accountant will give you a business pack to take to your bank. You will need this to set up a business bank account, which will be important when working with your Medical Director to purchase S4 medications and distribute your salary into your personal account.

 Talk to your insurance company

Let your insurance company know that your business entity name has changed and understand the impact this may have on your policy.

Make sure your compliance documentation is up to date

  • If you haven’t already, switch over to the digital drug book in the Fresh app. This is critical for the doctor managing your S4 medication stock, ensuring you remain compliant. You will need to make sure this is updated regularly.
  • Complete your compliance checklist. You can access your compliance check from the Fresh app. Make sure you schedule time for yourself or your staff to update this every quarter.

Update your business documents

  • Update any invoices, receipts, and consent forms to show your new Pty Ltd name and ABN.

 Connect with your community.

We know things feel like a lot right now. One of the best ways to deal with this uncertainty is to connect with your Fresh community, either via our WhatsApp groups or in person at our upcoming coffee catch ups. Sometimes all it takes is a chat over coffee to remind us we’re in this together.

As always, our team are here to support you. Reach out to your account manager if you have any questions.
